How to create an attribute

Modified on Tue, 23 Jul, 2024 at 2:46 PM

Attributes are individual fields within a block where data is entered. These fields represent specific pieces of information or data points collected during an assessment, such as height, weight, or BMI. Follow the steps below to create a new attribute in the PHA system.

Step-by-Step Guide

Accessing the Attributes Section

  • Navigate to the "Manage Forms" menu on the left sidebar.
  • Click on the "Attributes" submenu item.

Viewing Existing Attributes

  • The "All Existing Attributes" page will display.
  • Use the filters provided to search for existing attributes if necessary.

Creating a New Attribute

  • Click on the "Create an attribute" button located at the top right of the page.

Selecting Attribute Type

  • A pop-up window will appear. Choose whether you want to create a "Standard Attribute" or a "Tagged Attribute".

A tagged attribute is an attribute that is standardised across all organisations and could be used to share data with your partners, a standard attribute has more customisation available but will not be able to be shared with other organisations.

Defining Attribute Details

Fill in the details for the new attribute in the form provided:

  • Input Type: Select the type of input (e.g., Radiobutton, Date, Dropdown, etc.).

Label: Enter an appropriate label for the attribute. The label will be what appears above the input on the assessment.

Code: Provide a unique code for the attribute. This helps differentiate it from other attributes, and allows for versioning if changes are made.

Description: Provide a description to identify the attribute's purpose.

Placeholder: Enter a placeholder value if applicable. This is text that will appear in the 'input box', for example the words "Enter a placeholder value" is an example of a placeholder.

Options & Values: For certain input types like dropdowns or radiobuttons, enter the labels and values for the options. You can change the values if desired, however numbers will be automatically generated for each option.

Values are numeric in order to allow them to be used in formulas and links.

Required: Specify if this attribute is required for assessments. If an attribute is required, the assessment will not allow a person to move to the next step unless data is entered.

Saving the Attribute

  • Once all details are filled in, click the "Submit" button to create the attribute.
  • If you need to cancel, click the "Cancel" button.

Confirmation

  • After submission, the new attribute will appear in the list of existing attributes.

By following these steps, you can easily create and manage attributes within the PHA system, ensuring all necessary data points are accurately collected during assessments.
